Have the BEST TRIP EVER with your amigas without killing each other… VEGAS?!?!  I have received this message many times over the last few years after graduating college. Vegas seems to be the IT spot for a getaway with your amigas. It honestly would be really hard to find a more guaranteed-awesome girlfriend getaway than Las Vegas. Despite what you may feel about yard-long Technicolor drinks, the Vegas Strip packs it all in—great food, swanky stays, unbeatable weather, and of course EPIC PARTIES. So, based on my many girls’ weekends in Vegas, here are my tips for the ultimate amigas getaway to Sin City.

  • Invite the right amigas. Of course it’s important to invite the right friends for any trip, but this is especially true when planning a Las Vegas girlfriend getaway. Discuss expectations about activities, meals, and schedules before leaving home, too.Book the right hotel. Nowhere is booking the right hotel more important than in Las Vegas. You want to be in the thick of things so you can easily reach the glitz, restaurants, shops, shows and casinos of the Strip, but you want a peaceful retreat in which to retire for the evening. Enter Aria. Among the largest rooms on the Las Vegas Strip, the Sky Suites at Aria boast over 1,000 square feet of space. In a one-bedroom suite, expect a separate living area, a bedroom with an incredible view of the strip, and a swanky bathroom with dual sinks and crazy touches like a heated toilet seat and television in the bathroom vanity. Plus, Aria Sky Suite guests receive complimentary limousine service to and from the airport. If traveling with more than a couple of friends, consider booking a two-bedroom Sky Suite for even more space. If money is no object, book a Sky Villa for two-stories of up to 7,000 square feet. (And invite me along!)

  • Pack both sexy and “normal” clothes. Before leaving home, print out a packing list to be sure you don’t forget anything. Las Vegas gives us a chance to dress up and bring out our inner J. Lo. It gives us an opportunity to wear those big, sparkling earrings that seem too mui mui at home. That is why it’s Vegas, baby! You’ll also want to be sure to pack something more understated and comfortable to wear for exploring for each day. Still, you don’t want to look like a slouch. Think a comfy maxidress with wedges or capri pants with a fitted tee and cute accessories. If you’ll be walking outside, keep in mind that Las Vegas can get extremely hot, especially if visiting during summer when temps can reach 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. Pack lightweight, breathable clothing. No matter when visiting, pack your swimsuit! Las Vegas hotel pools are a delightful draw and most spas offer hot tubs and steam rooms. Most pools are also heated year round.Of course you want to bring a sexy pair of heels (or two or three) to wear to clubs and casinos. But, keep in mind you will likely do A LOT of walking. Distances are deceptively long in Las Vegas, even if you’re headed across the street or just remaining within the same casino. Pack a pair of foldable shoes to toss in your purse to make the journey more enjoyable!

  • Research before you arrive. There are many sites out there with A LOT of information about what to pack, what to do, , and more in Vegas. There are also many ways to get discounts through coupons and on Groupon. Some of my favorites include Las Vegas Advisor, Tix4Tonight, and Groupon.

  • Join a Las Vegas casino rewards program ASAP. I didn’t want to give away my biggest Vegas secret, but I will. Haha. This is probably the most important tip I will give you! There are SO MANY perks and discounts you can earn from being a part of these rewards programs! It’s free to sign up and only takes a few minutes of your time. You earn points for playing slots, eating at restaurants in the hotels, going to shows, and for booking rooms in the future using your account information. Every hotel has a special area just for their reward program members. My favorite programs with the most perks in my opinion are M Life and Total Rewards. Trust me when I say that if you plan on going to Vegas often, the sign up is totally worth it!

  • Make reservations for dinner in advance. Las Vegas has become one of the most famous culinary cities of the world. With well-known chefs like Emeril Lagasse, Jean Georges, and Julian Serrano setting up shop all along the Strip, the temptations are many. Demand is high for these celebrity restaurants, so you’d best book your meals in advance lest you end up dining super early or super late…or at McDonald’s. You can use OpenTable to make reservations at many of the top restaurants in Las Vegas and you can also call the concierge at your hotel and they will be more than happy to help you.

Viva Amigas!

  • Set a gambling limit…and stick to it!. Whether you love card table games or you are a casual slot player, set a gambling limit for yourself before leaving home. To be sure to stick to your limit, tell your amigas your spending cap and ask them to help you avoid the lure of ATMs. Another trick is to set a cap on earnings, meaning that if you’re ever up by, say $50, you will cash out immediately and find something else to do.

  • Get tickets to a Las Vegas show. Vegas just wouldn’t be Vegas without seeing some incredible live entertainment. From big time entertainers like Britney Spears and J. Lo to risque reviews, magic shows, stand-up comedy and spectaculars like Cirque du Soleil productions, there’s something sure to please you and your chicas.

  • Stay hydrated and avoid hangovers. .Las Vegas is a desert and is therefore…stay hydrated!!  If you’ll be lazing poolside (and you should!) or walking much during the day, be sure to drink lots of water or electrolyte infused drinks. It can be tempting to get your drink on the minute you touch down in Vegas (or on the plane there), but pace yourself. You want to have a memorable, fun time with your friends, not lay in bed with a cruda

  • HAVE FUN!  At the end of the day, it’s a VACATION!! So remember to have fun and forget about all your worries. Las Vegas was built to be a Disney World for adults, so enjoy it while you are there.
